Voices in Wartime is a feature-length documentary that sharply etches the experience of war through powerful images and the words of poets, soldiers, journalists, and others. The Voices in Wartime Education Project offers four thematic curriculum modules that approach teaching about the experience of war using the film and additional resources. Here are innovative curriculum ideas that link learning about peace, justice, and positive change with the lives of Nobel Peace Laureates like Desmond Tutu. The Peace Jam Foundation offers standards-based curricular resources for use with students K-college.
Teaching Tolerance provides educators with free educational materials that promote respect for differences and appreciation of diversity in the classroom and beyond. Read their online magazine published twice yearly and subscribe to their e-newsletter.
Educators for NonViolence offers curriculum resources (K-16), bibliographies on nonviolent education, an annual conference and teacher trainings.
Here are teacher and student guides about the conflict in Darfur with stories from young people about their daily lives, the fears they face, and their hopes for the future. These lessons are appropriate for students age 13 and older.
