The Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC) brings together innovative minds from across the industry to discuss practical ideas and solutions that inspire positive changes. Hosted by Travel Portland and Travel Oregon, the ESTC 2010 will be bringing together 500+ business leaders, tourism professionals, and community stakeholders. ESTC's goals include promoting best practices in sustainability strategies and inspiring innovative change as well as equipping businesses with tools to effectively cope with social, environmental, and economic changes.
Keynote speakers for this year's conference will be:
- Sam Adams, the Mayor of Portland. In his new role as Mayor, Sam is the lead Council member on Economic
Development, Planning and Sustainability, Education, Arts and Culture,
and Transportation.
- Rick Ridgeway, the VP of environmental Initiatives and Special Media Projects in Patagonia. Rick is the author of six books, including the highly acclaimed Seven Summits, The Shadow of Kilimanjaro and Below Another Sky. Rick
is Board Chairman of Freedom to Roam Coalition, a broad coalition of
businesses, government agencies and environmental groups committed to
the protection of wildlife corridors and connected landscapes.
- Bruce Poon Tip, the founder of Gap Adventures. Gap Adventures has been awarded a 2009 World Savers Awards by Condé
Nast Traveler magazine and the 2009 Travel+Leisure’s Global Vision
Leadership Award for voluntourism. Bruce has been honored twice with
the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and has been recognized
as the 2009 Awards of Merit, Travel Personality of the Year.
Alongside the conference's keynote speaker will be several additional featured speakers, eager to share their stories, and best practices in sustainable strategies.
