Teachings of the elders

Nestled deep within the coastal mountains of British Columbia the Kitlope is acclaimed as the largest tract of ancient temperate rainforest on earth. Here an elder from the Haisla-Henaaksiala First Nation was kind enough to share some wisdom from his experiences in life. Using a fern frond from the forests alongside Kitlope Lake, he demonstrated the importance of maintaining “center focus” in order to carry one’s self in a balanced way through life.

Rainforest Logging Shutdown in BC
The British Columbia logging company MacMillan Bloedel announced January 8, 1997, that it is shutting down its logging operations in the Clayoquot Sound rainforest, BC.
