The Power Writers Program does more than encourage teenagers in the Bronx to write­—it empowers them through education and self-expression. The film follows three friends as they approach adulthood, challenged by  poverty, crime, and family stress. Poetry gives them strength—and good teachers  (sometimes) make a difference.
