On October 9, 2008, Seattle City Council President Richard Conlin spoke to a gathering of community leaders and activists in Bainbridge Island. He came to share Seattle's green initiatives, promoting vibrant neighborhoods, sustainable community, fighting climate change, and protecting the environment.

Richard explains how Seattle decided to conserve energy instead of building five nuclear power plants. (Watch his energetic speech in the video player above.) He also spoke about Seattle's green building policies, the city's water conservation efforts, and the effort to eliminate disposable bags that the chemical industry is fighting.

Seattle City Council President Richard Conlin gave this speech to a Sustainable Bainbridge gathering on October 9, 2008 at Islandwood. Richard is a founding board member and former publisher of YES! Magazine, and a founder of Sustainable Seattle.
