The 10.8 million gallons of oil that spilled in the 1989 Exxon Valdez is the largest environmental disaster in North American history, with the effects of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill still to be seen.
In the film, Black Wave, environmental activist Riki Ott shares the story of the lengthy legal battle between a small Alaska town and one of the largest oil companies, ExxonMobil. The battle lasted for more than 20 years and the effects of the oil spill are still very present in Prince William Sound today.
