What’s the True Price of Gas?
With gas above $4 a gallon in many places, the Obama administration last week announced that it would tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to increase supply and ease prices. But the price we pay for gas already hides the real cost of of oil— costs we pay, not at the pump, but with our own health.
In this video, the Center for Investigative Reporting calculates the "external costs" of gasoline use in the U.S. to show us the true price of cheap gas.
