What Lies Beneath

 

After a decade of research and exploration, the Census of Marine Life has released incredible new knowledge about life in our Earth's oceans. The study involved 2,700 scientists from 80 countries and more than 9,000 days at sea, ultimately revealing more than 6,000 potentially new species. Among the discoveries: a species of shrimp thought to have gone extinct 50 million years ago. The findings also help identify important changes, like the dwindling population of Atlantic bluefin tuna off the coast of Northern Europe.
