Modeled after social forum gatherings around the world, the US Social Forum is a movement-building process, bringing together representatives from a wide variety of social change organizations and community groups across the country. In self-designed workshops, the attendees—including young people, people of color, workers, veterans, educators, and artists—develop bottom-up solutions to the economic and ecological crises we face. Groups are encouraged to join working groups and consider workshop proposals as early as possible. www.ussf2010.org

Aug 10-12, Seattle, WA. Come join the discussion of why more vacation time matters for America and what we can do to get it.

Vacations
are vanishing. Only 14% of Americans will get a vacation of two weeks or longer
this year. A third of women and a quarter of men get no annual leave anymore,
and many others are afraid to use their paid leave for fear they could be laid
off or demoted if they do. Because the US has no minimum paid-leave law, the average American vacation is now down to a long weekend (compared to Australians who have four weeks, Europeans with four to five weeks,
and the Japanese with two). An exciting lineup of speakers and presenters discuss why vacation time matters for America as related to specific topics like health, culture, and families. www.timeday.org

Integral Education is a practical means of
creating positive change in ourselves and the world. This seminar will
bring educators of all age groups together from around the globe --
educators who are seeking the necessary vision, skills, and processes
to fully serve students and the world that we inhabit. Integral
education is an emerging field, propelled by people who seek to push
the envelope of what education can be. The seminar will provide an
inspiring environment to meet with colleagues and to network with a
small but growing community that clearly understands that addressing a
more complete spectrum of personal, cultural, and systemic realities at
play in education is one of the most powerful ways to begin effecting
the changes we hope to see in the world. www.i-edu.org
