What is YES! Magazine all about?

YES! Magazine is an award-winning, ad-free, nonprofit publication that supports people’s active engagement in solving today’s social, political, and environmental challenges. For over 12 years, YES! Magazine and YES! Online have been spotlighting the best possibilities for deep shifts that can lead to a just and sustainable world.

Who are you associated with?

YES! is published by the Positive Futures Network (PFN), an independent, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Our annual budget is derived from magazine sales, foundation grants, and individual donors. (Donations are tax-deductible).

Is YES! a print publication or online only?

YES! is printed quarterly on 100% post-consumer waste, process chlorine-free paper; one of the few magazines to make this commitment. Online content supplements the magazine and is updated more frequently. To stay up-to-date you can sign up for our email newsletter. (We never share email addresses.)

How can I get permission to reprint or repost an article?

YES! Magazine is part of the Creative Commons movement and encourages you to make free use of our articles by taking these easy steps.

How do I submit an article?

Read our Writers' Guidelines. Note: The vast majority of the work we publish is work we solicit.

How can I help promote YES! at the event/conference I'm attending?

We are glad to have people represent YES! at conferences, when circumstances allow. Email our media and outreach manager, Susan Gleason, at sgleason [at] yesmagazine.org, or call Susan at 206/842-5009 extension 217.

Do you have internships?

Are there part-time volunteer opportunities?

Most volunteer opportunities are here at our Bainbridge Island, WA, office. Why should I donate to YES! Magazine?

YES! Magazine is one of the national leaders in independent media—an ad-free publication reaching more than 150,000 readers each quarter. Revenue from subscriptions and sales covers less than half of our expenses, so we rely on tax-deductible donations to publish YES! Magazine, YES! Online, and to provide valuable resources for educators, students, activists, policy-makers, and others to help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.

What are some specific ways I can support the magazine?

Become a Dedicated Friend of YES! Magazine. With a monthly $10 donation or more, you will receive:

• Your subscription to YES! (no more renewal notices!)
• Quarterly updates from the publisher
• Free gift offers each year including books, DVDs, and CDs
• Invitations to YES! events
• The satisfaction of joining the YES! community of readers who directly contribute to change during this critical time in U.S. history

How can I subscribe to YES! Magazine?

You can subscribe here. Subscribing and paying online saves resources, so we offer a special discount off our regular rates.

Can I try YES! for free?

Yes, you may sign up for a risk-free trial subscription and get our current issue free.

Is there a special rate for gift subscriptions?

Yes. We want you to share YES!, so we’ve made it easy with discounted gift rates. During the holidays we offer special gift packages. Watch for ads on our homepage or sign up for our email newsletter for updates.

Can I subscribe to YES! overseas?

Absolutely. We have many readers overseas. Check our online store for current international rates.

May I order back issues?

Of course. See our back issues page for complete descriptions of what’s available. Discounts apply to orders of 5 or more copies and to the back issue set.

What else do you offer for sale?

Browse our web store for other products: We have posters of our most popular graphics from the magazine. Our new totes, 100% recycled and made in the US, are already a staff favorite.

What if I have trouble with an order?
