According to 2014 and 2016 U.S. Census Bureau reports, the vast majority of older Americans have been married at some point in their lives. As people age, rates of divorce and widowhood increase significantly. While growing numbers of older Americans are unmarried, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are single or alone. Online dating sites catering to older people are increasingly popular, and people also cultivate non-romantic relationships.
